With his clothing tossed on the floor all around his feet, Carl fell still and strained his hearing for some indication that Miles was still in his flat. Not a single sound had floated through to him ever since he’d heard several doors being opened and closed in quick succession. Doors that led to other rooms inside his flat. Carl had to keep believing that. Miles hadn’t opened the front door.
Miles wouldn’t leave without a word, he wouldn’t leave him standing there like an idiot—not after everything he’d said about trust. Not even to teach him a lesson for leaving his flat without a word the previous morning, right?
Carl stopped trying to hear Miles moving about. There was little point when his pounding heartbeat would have probably drowned out a herd of Aberdeen Angus stampeding through his flat.
Maybe, if he could just remember part of what had passed between them. Carl adjusted the way his collar laid around his wrist. Naked didn’t mean taking off his collar. He had no doubt about that.
Was that because Miles had told him as much that night? Was he just being an idiot?
Minutes ticked past. No memories came back, but Carl still became increasingly certain Miles hadn’t left the flat. The other guy was just being difficult. Carl’s spine stiffened at being kept waiting when there seemed to be no possible reason why it was necessary for Miles to disappear for so long. Carl’s cock would have stiffened too, except it was already as hard as it could get.
Being left standing around like a pillock was not hot. Carl’s brain really believed that. He wasn’t sure if it was a good or a bad sign that his cock didn’t agree. Finally, a sound. A footstep?
Carl closed his eyes ever more tightly as the urge to open them and sneak a peek threatened to get the best of him.
A shiver ran up Carl’s spine. Miles was back. Well, it had better be Miles, because Carl now had no doubt someone was watching him.
Something brushed against his face.
“What the hell?”
“There was one thing you forgot to buy.” Miles’ words came from directly behind Carl.
The thing that had touched Carl’s cheek rose and completely covered his eyes, just as his shock made him open them.
“A blindfold,” he realized. Bugger—he’d known there was something he’d left off his list!
“Luckily, it’s also the easiest thing to improvise.”
